A 20-year-old Rancho Mirage arrested in connection with about  five pounds of pot, prescriptions drugs and drug paraphernalia found in the search of a  vehicle and a house was released from jail on bond Wednesday.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Calvin Clayton Campbell, seizing about seven ounces of pot after stopping a vehicle he was driving at San Nicholas and San Anselmo avenues in Palm Desert at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff's Sgt. Mike Bianco said.

"While speaking to the driver, deputies could smell the odor of marijuana," he said.

A follow-up investigation brought deputies to a house in the 100 block of Via Milano in Rancho Mirage, which they searched.  There, they found more pot, items used for packaging and selling it and a loaded shotgun. In total, they seized 4.8 pounds of pot and 95 pills, Bianco said. The haul was valued at $16,000.

Campbell posted a $30,000 bond Wednesday and was freed, according to jail records.
