Suspicious Death: Human Remains ID'd More than Four Years After Discovery
Human remains discovered in June 2009 outside Desert Hot Springs were identified last week as a Nevada County man and homicide detectives were seeking more info about what they described as a suspicious death, a sheriff's sergeant said.

The remains were reported to Palm Desert deputies in the area of Long Canyon Road and Hacienda Avenue on June 12, 2009, Sgt. Todd Torrenti of the sheriff's Central Homicide Unit said.

"At the time the remains were located, investigators were  unable to make a positive identification due to the condition of the remains," Torrenti said. "For several months investigators attempted to identify the victim but had no success. DNA was collected from the remains and submitted to the Department of Justice in a further attempt to identify the victim."

Homicide investigators were notified by the Coroner's Office of a DNA match on a subject from Nevada County on Aug. 15, 2013, Torrenti said. The subject was identified as Isaiah Marsh, who was reported missing by his family members in April 2009.

"Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Central Homicide Unit are investigating the incident as a suspicious death," Torrenti said.

Anyone with more info about Marsh was urged to call Investigator Corey of the Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777.
