Authorities on Monday identified two people killed in a head-on crash near the northern edge of Palm Springs.
Derryl Jones, 50, of Desert Hot Springs, and 23-year-old Ashley Van Buskirk of Joshua Tree were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported about 2:50 p.m. Sunday on Indian Canyon Drive, north of Tramview Road.
Jones was driving a 2003 Acura Integra north on Indian Canyon Drive when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The Acura crossed into the southbound lanes and into the path of a 2012 Nissan Sentra driven by Van Buskirk, according to Palm Springs police Lt. Mike Kovaleff.
