A small grass fire ignited in the Arastradero Preserve in Palo Alto Thursday.

Fire crews responded to a multi-alarm wildland fire at 2:48 p.m. in the Arastradero Preserve near 1530 Arastradero Rd., southwest of Interstate 280, according to Palo Alto Batallion Chief Niles Broussard.

Palo Alto Fire Stations 2, 6 and 8 responded to the blaze, with additional support from Palo Alto police and Palo Alto Park Rangers. Woodside and Santa Clara County fire departments also responded, according to a press release issued Thursday night by Palo Alto Deputy Chief Gordon Simpkinson.

The 2-acre fire was put out approximately 30 minutes after firefighters arrived. Crews used water, hand tools and fire-retardant foam to contain and extinguish the fire, according to Broussard.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the blaze is urged to contact the Palo Alto Fire Department at 650-329-2184 or email fire@cityofpaloalto.org.
