Join Palo Alto's Community Emergency-Response Team!

Register now for April classes.

Join Palo Alto's Community Emergency-Response Team!
Ever considered becoming trained as a member of the City of Palo Alto Office of Emergency Service's Community Emergency Response Team?

Registration is underway for new classes coming up in April.

The CERT program trains community members in basic disaster response skills, such as small fire suppression, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

The CERT curriculum includes 24 hours of training and courses are offered in April and October each year by the Office of Emergency Services.

Next month's classes are 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on April 7, 9, 14, 16, 21 and 23, with a five-hour "field day" from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.

Students must attend and complete all sessions to become certified.

All classes occur at 679 Pampas Lane on the Stanford University campus, in the training classrooms of Stanford's Department of Public Safety.
