May Event to Honor Three Fallen Palo Alto Police Officers

May Event to Honor Three Fallen Palo Alto Police Officers

We would love for you to join us for a very special event honoring our three officers who have fallen in the line of duty. It will be on Thursday, May 15, at 2:00 p.m. at Cogswell Plaza.

We will be hosting a short ceremony to dedicate a "Memorial Grove" of three massive Coast Redwood trees in honor of Reserve Officer Lester Cole, Officer Gene Clifton, and Reserve Officer Theodore Brassinga.

Thursday, May 15 has a special significance for two reasons: not only is it the 20th anniversary of Officer Brassinga's tragic death, but it also happens to be National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Mayor Nancy Shepherd and Chief Dennis Burns will be speaking, and the PAPD Honor Guard will be in attendance. We will unveil a special plaque at the site during the event.

We have been working with the Palo Alto-based environmental non-profit organization Canopy to create this living memorial.

For more information about Canopy, visit their website at  http://canopy.org/

Cogswell Plaza is located in the 200 block of Lytton Avenue, between Bryant Street and Ramona Street.

We hope you can join us!
