Man Rescued From Shipwreck Trail

Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department rescued a man injured on Shipwreck Trail in Palos Verdes Estates on Wednesday.

According to the Daily Breeze, the urban search-and-rescue team and helicopter crew were dispatched at about 2:30 p.m.

"The extent of the man's injuries, as well as the circumstances that led to the call, were unknown," wrote reporter Kristin S. Agostoni.

The aptly named Shipwreck Trail is rocky hike that leads down to the wreckage of the Greek freighter Dominator, which ran aground on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in 1961, according to LocalHikes.

The entrance to the trail is off Paseo Del Mar, north of Bluff Cove, in Palos Verdes Estates.
