San Pedro Explosion Rattles Neighborhood

SAN PEDRO, CA – An explosion and fire involving a big rig damaged some windows at a nearby apartment building in San Pedro Monday. The explosion occurred at 9:57 a.m. near 661 N. Harbor Boulevard in San Pedro, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No evacuations were ordered, LAFD said. The container, which carried approximately four vehicles, was headed for export. The male driver was uninjured and declined hospital transport, fire officials said.
Firefighters sent to the scene quickly extinguished the flames, according to fire officials.

Residents reported their houses shaking and seeing smoke near the Port of Los Angeles, which is working under normal operations.
The incident is being investigated as an industrial accident.
