Pasadena Will Consider Allowing NFL Team to Use Rose Bowl

The Pasadena City Council will meet next week to consider an amendment to an ordinance that would allow an NFL team to play in the Rose Bowl temporarily.

The council will meet Nov. 19 to decide on an amendment to the Arroyo Seco Public Lands Ordinance that would allow an NFL team to use the Rose Bowl for no longer than 5 years, according to a city news release.

The Rose Bowl is currently restricted from holding more than 12 major events--like UCLA football games--per year, but the amendment would allow it to host up to 13 additional major events, according to the city.

"The additional events would only be allowed if the City enters into an agreement with an NFL team to lease the Rose Bowl Stadium," the release states. "No NFL team has been identified as moving to Los Angeles and the City and the Rose Bowl Operating Company have not begun negotiations to lease the stadium to an NFL team."

The city released the final environmental impact report for the proposed change on Nov. 9. It can be viewed here.
