Still not sure what to do this weekend? Here are a couple of suggestions.
Dance the night away at Papa’s Taverna on Friday as local country rock band HotGrubb entertains. If you haven’t been to Papa’s, it’s a old-time, Sonoma County Greek restaurant on the Petaluma River that has live music every weekend. Come for hearty souvlaki, kebabs and other specialties and stay for the entertainment.
Or head to Tara Firma Farm at the end of I Street for a
Barn Dance and Hootenany on Friday. Start with a dusk tour of the farm at 6pm, followed by dancing starting at 7pm. Don't worry if you don't know how to square dance. Called Evi Ladin will provide step by step instructions that will have you do-si-do-ing in no time! $20 at the door/$15 in advance.
Many know Val Richman as the former executive director of MentorMe Petaluma. But did you know that Val is also one great DJ? On Saturday, DJ Val spins her favorite tracks at the Twist & Shout Funky Dance Jam at Yoga One starting 8pm.
If you’ve never been to a dance jam, it's a friendly dance party where no partner or dance experience is needed. Sort of like dancing in your living room, but WAY more fun. $10. 110 Kentucky St.
Also on Saturday, the Petaluma Arts Center hosts an artist reception to kick off the 12th Annual Member Exhibition. 4-6pm. 230 Lakeville St.
Want art without the party? Check out “Extraordinary,” a new collection of works on life and death at Calabi Gallery. 144 Petaluma Boulevard North.
