Pedestrian Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries After Collision In Petaluma

BREAKING: The 23-year-old was walking in the bike lane on Lakeville Street when struck.

PETALUMA, CA – A pedestrian was left with possibly life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a car in Petaluma Friday evening, police said.

Around 7:45 p.m., the 23-year-old victim was walking west in the bike lane of 500 block of Lakeville Street when he was hit by a 2015 Volkswagen Golf, according to police.

The victim was reportedly wearing dark clothing when he was hit, police said. The crash threw the victim about 50 feet and caused major damage to the passenger's side of the car.

The victim was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major head injuries, according to police.

The Volkswagen's driver, identified as 27-year-old Brian Bianucci of Petaluma, cooperated with the investigation.

Bianucci consented to a blood draw at Petaluma Valley Hospital and investigators determined alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision, police said.
