Weekend Planner: All Saints, Rowing and Party for a Cause

Wondering what to do this weekend? Check out some of these fun events.

On Saturday, learn about permaculture with a Design Certificate Course offered by Daily Acts. Permaculture is a way of designing water-harvesting, resource-recycling, zero-waste gardens, farms, neighborhoods, and cities.

In the class, participants will learn from acclaimed ecological design experts including Penny Livingston, Larry Santoyo, Brock Dolman, Erik Ohlsen, John Valenzuela and others. Geared towards busy working professionals and change-makers, the course will be held one weekend a month over the course of 6 months.  Space is limited!

Saturday evening, enjoy casino games, live music and dancing at the Carousel Fund’s 25th annual fundraising event. This year's musical guest stars include Jefferson Star Ship and The Family Stone. Take part in the silent and live auction and support this all-volunteer organization that helps Petaluma families who have catastrophically ill children. $85

On Sunday, come out to the Marina and Shollenberger Park to watch the 7th Annual Wine Country Rowing Classic. The free event starts at 8:30am as junior, collegiate and masters rowers compete for medals in a 5,000 meter race.

Vendors and pre- and post-race crews will be at the Sheraton parking lot all day. Food and beverages, athletic clothing, ice cream during the lunch hour, and jewelry made of vintage medals available for sale.

Later on head to St. Vincent de Paul Church (Western Avenue and Howard) for the official kick-off celebrations of Dia de los Muertos. Enjoy music, dancing and food and get into the spirit of the Day of the Dead, a holiday celebrating family and tradition. 1-4pm. Free.
