What's This About Tim Lincecum in Petaluma?

The Facebooks and the Twitterverse seem to be hotbeds of rumor, innuendo and disinformation. And maybe, sometimes a scoop.

What's This About Tim Lincecum in Petaluma?

Funny how rumors get started. It used to be around the water cooler, or maybe in the locker room. Now it's on the internet.

This one is that Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum has purchased a house in Petaluma, or maybe that he's even moved in.  Do a search on Google and you'll find it - that, and speculation about his new girlfriend and a few other rumors besides. But is it true?

Funny, it was only a year or so ago that the two-time Cy Young Award-winning pitcher from Bellevue, Wash. was showing off his condo in downtown Seattle with a video tour for CSN California.

Of course a pitcher for the San Francisco ball club can't live in Seattle all the time. Which is why he rented an apartment in San Francisco's Mission District - until he was sued by his landlord last October for trashing the place and not paying rent on time (according to this article in the San Francisco Chronicle.)

That might suggest the right-hander (2-4 so far this year, ERA 6.04) would be looking for a new place, right? Well, a couple months later, this big old house on D Street sold for an even $1.2 million. Five bedroom, 4 baths, and approximately 5,489 square feet. Looks like it's got a pool too. Just right for a bachelor.

Or maybe a couple. You know how rumors get started.
