We will also be gathering letters from the kids to be delivered by M.O.M.S to active duty military and gathering goods for homeless vets.
2. Due to the efforts of many the National Guard Memorial is ready for completion! This tribute to the three Guardsman who were killed in action in Iraq, Michael Ottolini, Patrick McCaffrey and Andre Tyson, will serve as a permanent reminder of their sacrifice. The ceremony starts at 8am, on Veterans Day. The National Guard Armory is located at 580 Vallejo Street.
3. After the Veterans Parade at Walnut Park as part of the regular ceremony we will honor Veteran Lou Raffi. Lou will be recognized for his heroic efforts during WWII. His vessel was sunk by Japanese torpedoes, and while struggling to survive in the Pacific he saved a Marine from certain drowning. An amazing story of heroism!
