Editor's note: The first several photos are a sneak peek at the Designers' Showcase (added 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26), the rest of homes on the tour.
Didn't plan ahead? You can buy tickets for the 24th annual Children’s Support League Heart of the Home Tour in person at the Piedmont Community Center, 711 Highland Ave., on Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28.
Tickets are $50 for the tour or $62 for the tour with lunch.
The tour features five homes in Piedmont and the Oakland hills, open for viewing 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The fundraiser also includes a designer showcase in one of the tour homes, a first-time CSL tour offering.
The two-day fundraiser will also offer a new twist on lunch. Rather than the traditional boxed lunches, Off the Grid food truck specialty fare will be offered at the Piedmont Community Center.
The community center is also the setting for the Heart of the Home Boutique, open on Friday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wine and refreshments will be offered to shoppers from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday. Tour tickets are not required for admission to the boutique.
The designer showcase features four revitalized dormer rooms that were once servants’ quarters in a Piedmont estate. The designers will be on hand to talk with tour-goers.
The showcase will also include an exhibit of contemporary mixed medium paintings by Piedmont artist Robyn Hodess.
The jazz band Shades of Gray will perform on the terrace of the Showcase home on Friday afternoon.
On Saturday afternoon, Antonia Huang, an origami artist, will be at the Showcase home hand-crafting cranes for tour goers. Cranes are symbolic of honor and loyalty. Donations for CSL are requested, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting disadvantaged East Bay children.
All ticket proceeds and 20 percent of shopping purchases benefit non-profit agencies serving East Bay kids.
