Piedmont Homes Sold in September 2012

Among the sales: $6.7 million for a home designed by Albert Farr, the early 20th century architect who was also responsible for Piedmont's City Hall.

Piedmont Homes Sold in September 2012

The real estate market slowed down a bit as autumn arrived, with eight Piedmont homes sold during September 2012. That's down from August 2012, when escrow closed on 13 homes, and July 2012, with 14 sales.

The range of prices was broad: from a low of $780,000 — $81,000 above the asking price — to a high of $6.7 million for a six-bedroom home designed by Albert Farr, a well-known early 20th century architect who also designed Piedmont City Hall, the Exedra Arch and Jack London's Wolf House in Sonoma County.

The tally shows two homes sold for under $1 million; three between $1 million and $2 million; and three for over $2 million. Six of the eight homes sold for less than the asking price, two for more.

Most homes sold quickly — two within a day of being listed — although one lingered for more than four months.
