MONDAY, JAN. 14
Hit and run — A Jerome Avenue resident reported to police that a city street sweeping vehicle hit her vehicle this morning but did not stop.
Recovered vehicle — Piedmont police located a Honda Civic reported stolen from Oakland and released it to the registered owner.
TUESDAY, JAN. 15
Domino theory — A St. James Drive resident reported at 5:16 p.m. that his Frisbee had fallen into a storm drain. When he went to recover it, the protective grate fell into the drain. And then ... no, the Frisbee player did not fall in. A police officer placed traffic cones around the open drain and notified the city's Public works Department.
Residential burglary — Someone broke into a home in the first block of Monticello Avenue and stole a television, the resident reported at 9:17 p.m. Police said the burglar broke in a door to enter the home.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 16
Stolen vehicle — An Acura Integra was stolen from the 100 block of Moraga Avenue sometime after 6 p.m. the previous evening.
Grand theft — A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Hampton Road during the night.
THURSDAY, JAN. 17
Stuck skunk — A resident of the 100 block of Greenbank Avenue reported seeing a skunk with its head stuck in a plastic container at 8:13 a.m. An animal control officer was unable to locate the unfortunate animal.
Thefts from vehicles — Someone broke into a locked vehicle in the 100 block of Dale Avenue during the night and took loose change and CDs. In the 200 block of Linda Avenue, a thief rifled through an unlocked vehicle and stole loose change. Another vehicle was rifled through in the 900 block of Rose Avenue, with loose change missing.
Residential burglary — Someone broke into a home in the 1000 block of Ranleigh Road.
Stolen bike — A bicycle was reported stolen from a garage in the 300 block of Sheridan Avenue. the theft occurred sometime in the past couple of days.
FRIDAY, JAN. 18
Reports of prowler — A prowler reported on Wildwood Avenue about 1 a.m. was a local resident experiencing emotional difficulties, police said. The man was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
Vehicle burglary — Someone rifled through a locked vehicle parked in the first block of Greenbank Avenue, but nothing was stolen.
Identity theft — A Craig Avenue resident reported an instance of identity theft.
SATURDAY, JAN. 19
Thefts from vehicles — Someone broke into a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Palm Drive during the night and took a cellphone, gas cards and tools. A FasTrack pass was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Oak Road. Someone rifled through a vehicle in the 1000 block of Annerley Road and took loose change.
Another stuck skunk — This one was spotted near Grand Avenue and Cambridge Way with a milk carton on its head. Animal control was unable to locate it.
Stolen vehicle — A Honda Accord was stolen from the 100 block of Oakmont Avenue between 6 and 6:30 p.m.
SUNDAY, JAN. 20
Thefts from vehicles — Someone rifled through a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of Lower Grand Avenue in the middle of the night. Backpacking equipment was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Pacific Avenue.
Bike theft — Bicycles were stolen from a garage in the 100 block of Wildwood Gardens Avenue.
Vehicle theft — An Acura was stolen from the 100 block of St. James Drive.
