Police Blotter: Stolen Vehicles, Warrant Arrest, Suspicious Solicitors
Lost and found week — Piedmont residents also found a number of lost items, including a wallet and a credit card, and turned them in to police.
MONDAY, JAN. 20
Warrant arrest — A man in his 30s was taken into custody on an outside arrest warrant after police stopped his gold-colored minivan near the corner of Grand Avenue and Cambridge Way about 5 p.m.
ID theft — A Piedmont resident reported being the victim of identity theft.
Solicitors — Magazine solicitors who had been dropped off in Piedmont and were later walking to Montclair to be picked up prompted several calls to police.
TUESDAY, JAN. 21
Auto recovery — A BMW reported stolen in Piedmont was located on Trestle Glen Road before dawn. The car was towed after police were unable to reach the registered owner.
Auto recovery — A Piedmont resident reported a Plymouth Grand Voyager stolen between Saturday and Tuesday afternoon The owner later located the minivan abandoned near the corner of Santa Clara Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland. The vehicle was released to the owner.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 22
Stolen license plate, recovered SUV — A rear license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked at Greenbank and Kingston avenues. Later in the day a stolen Toyota SUV was recovered close by and released to its registered owner.
THURSDAY, JAN. 23
Windy morning — Wind blew open the back door of a home on Kingston Avenue and brought down a large tree branch near the corner of Highland and Blair avenues.
