Hercules Police Blotter: Forgery, Mail Theft
The Hercules Police Department selected and wrote the following blotter items. 

Thursday, Jan. 2

Mental Health Evaluation: On Jan. 2 at 7:25 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block Lapis Court for a report of an out of control adult. The reporting party said his adult son was off his meds and throwing objects. Officers contacted the male and determined he met the criteria for a mental health evaluation. The male was transported, by ambulance, to the County Regional Medical Center

Recovered Stolen Vehicle:  On Jan. 2 9:15 a.m. an officer was dispatched to the 2000 block of Drake Lane for a report of a vehicle blocking the reporting party’s driveway. The officer located a blue 1993 Nissan Sentra blocking the driveway. Shortly after the officer towed the Nissan, the registered owner reported the vehicle stolen to Richmond PD.

Miscellaneous Investigation: On Jan. 2 1:30 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of Sycamore Ave for a possible elder abuse case. A teller, from the reporting party’s bank, notified HPD that there were unusual (high dollars) transactions on the victim’s accounts. The victim, who suffers from the early stages of dementia, believes family members may be stealing money from her accounts.  The Officer is following up on the case.

Friday, Jan. 3

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol: On Jan. 3 at 4:06 a.m. , an officer made a traffic stop on a 2002 Kia. The driver, 35 year old Desire Hubbs of Fairfield, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol while driving. She did poorly on the Standard Field Sobriety Tests and was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  She was cite released to a responsible party.

Possession of Stolen Property; Probation Violation; Multiple Drug Offenses; Failure to Register as a Sex Offender: On Jan. 4 at 11:47 a.m., an officer checked a suspicious vehicle, parked at Bayfront/Railroad The vehicle was occupied by three adult males and one adult female.  The three males were determined to be on searchable probation. To ensure a safe search all occupants were removed from the vehicle.  As a result of a search of the vehicle, and the male subjects, 37 year old Montego McGee, of Richmond was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and Violation of Probation; 37 year old Louis Coleman, of Richmond, was arrested for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, and Violation of Probation; and 45-year-old Prentiss Jackson, of Hercules was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Bringing a Controlled Substance in to a Jail, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Violation of Probation.  All three males were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.  The female was released at the scene

Two Vehicle Collision: On Jan. 3 at 2:45 p.m. an Officer was dispatched to the area of Chase Bank for a report of a two-vehicle collision which occurred on San Pablo Ave and John Muir.  Two vehicles struck each other while making lane changes from westbound John Muir.  Both drivers indicated the other was at fault. The damage was minimal and there was no medical attention needed.

Saturday, Jan. 4

Restraining Order /Probation Violation: On Jan. 4 at 8:35 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Heather Ave to regarding a report of a family disturbance. Officers made contact with the reporting party who told officers his stepson had been drinking and was not welcome in the home. The reporting party requested the step-son be removed from the home. Officers contacted the subject who stated he slept in a vehicle over night and came in the house to get out of the cold. A records check revealed the subject had an active criminal restraining order where his mother was a protective party. The terms of the restraining order included not being within 100 yards his mother. His mother was present in the household, well within the 100-yard limit. 29 year old Victor Diaz was placed under arrest for a Court Order Violation. Diaz is also arrested for Violation of Probation. Diaz was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Sunday, Jan. 5

Evading: On Jan. 5 at approximately 1:35 a.m., an Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, on a blue off road type motorcycle, for no license plate.  The vehicle was first seen in the 4000 block of San Pablo Ave. The motorcycle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The motorcycle fled on to W/B I-80 and reached a stop speed of 90 MPH. The pursuit was turned over to CHP on W/B I-80 at Central Ave and all HPD units terminated the pursuit. CHP pursed the motorcycle into Oakland and lost it in the Lake Merritt area. The suspect was described as an unknown race male, wearing a dark green jacket, with a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue jeans, and black motorcycle helmet.

Mail Theft:  On Jan. 5 at 9:18 a.m. an officer responded to the 100 block Shorebird Drive to attempt contact with possible mail theft victim.  Pinole P.D. contacted an adult female, in a vehicle, on Primrose Lane at Pinon Ave.  The subject was in possession of mail belonging to a Hercules  resident.  The officer contacted the resident who confirmed the subject, in Pinole, did not have permission to be in possession of her or her Husband’s mail.  The Hercules resident desired prosecution against the suspect.  Pinole P.D. arrested the female subject on multiple charges and transported her to the Martinez Detention Facility. The Hercules officer took a mail theft case.

Monday, Jan. 6

Forgery: On Jan. 6 at 12:22 p.m. an Officer took a HPD lobby report regarding a forged personal check. The Hercules resident stated on Nov. 25 he went to the Richmond Post Office and mailed a personal check to pay his Comcast bill.  He stated that on Nov. 29 he received a late payment notice from Comcast.  He said when he investigated why his check, that was mailed, wasn’t cashed he discovered an unknown suspect had cashed the check.  The victim received a copy of his forged check.  A “Bernard Kim” forged his name on the pay to line of the check, before cashing it on Nov. 27. 

Mental Health Evaluation: On Jan.6 at 10:57 p.m. Hercules Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Maple Ct. for a family disturbance. Upon arrival it was determined an adult female met the criteria for a Mental Health Evaluation.  The female was transported, by ambulance, to the County Regional Medical Center.
