Driver Doing Doughnuts in Pleasanton Park Arrested for Felony Vandalism: Police
Police say the Castro Valley man tried to flee when officers arrived at the park to investigate.
PLEASANTON, CA — A Castro Valley man suspected of felony vandalism was arrested after he was caught driving a truck in circles on the turf at a popular Pleasanton sports park, police officials said. Officers were alerted to the truck driving in the Ken Mercer Sports Park after hours when a resident called police at about 1 a.m. Tuesday.
When officers arrived at in the area of 5800 Parkside Drive, they discovered the truck driving in the circles on the wet grass. Police tried to stop the driver, who allegedly turned off his headlights and tried to flee but eventually yielded to officers. Castro Valley resident Imran Meskienyar, 21, was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and was booked at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
“Large portions of the turf in the Pleasanton Sports Park were found to have been damaged by Meskienyar driving his pickup recklessly on the wet grass,” police said in a statement. “The exact cost of the damage has not yet been determined.”

Police say they will seek restitution for the cost to repair the turf.
“The Pleasanton Police Department encourages the public to report suspicious activity,” police said. “This is a great example of proactive community members and the police working together to maintain the safety and quality of life enjoyed in Pleasanton.”
