Investigators say the stolen cars have been found abandoned and 'stripped' of their components.

Pleasanton Police Investigating Rash of Camaro Thefts
Pleasanton Police investigators say they are investigating about a dozen thefts of Camaros stolen from Pleasanton over the last few months.

According to Detective Brandon Stocking, the car thieves are specifically targeting the 2011-2014 "SS" models of the sports car.

"The vehicles are being recovered 'stripped' of most of their components before being abandoned around the East Bay," Stocking said.  "Several other jurisdictions are having similar issues throughout the bay and we are collaborating with them on the investigation."

Police officials say they are not able to release additional details at this time as the investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact Pleasanton police at (925) 931-5100.
