Help Kick Breast Cancer

Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Poway Vaqueros Soccer are asking young soccer players to “unite in the fight” against breast cancer, which affects one in eight women, in June.

The is a chance for young athletes to get dirty and have fun, while helping raise funds for breast cancer research and awareness. The two-day tournament-style game will be held in Escondido, and youth soccer teams are being encouraged to sign up for the fun-filled weekend.

Teams will take to the fields at Frances Ryan Park, 390 Hidden Trails Rd., in Escondido the weekend of June 23-24. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the San Diego Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation. Click here for more information on this fundraising event.

The city of Escondido, E7 sports, Puma, Soccer Loco and other organizations are sponsors of the tournament. Tournament team winners will receive the Pink Pride Award, given by the tournament directors, for the best showcase of breast cancer awareness and support.

So lace up those cleats, strap on those shin guards and get ready to kick some goals. The original deadline to register was May 20 but it has since been extended to May 29. Cost is $445-$495 per team. Click here to register online and kick breast cancer!
