Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation will hold the annual Taste of Our Towne fundraiser on the Plaza at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts from 5:00 to 9:30 pm on Saturday, June 21. This first day of summer celebration will be replete with delicious food, sumptuous wines, a live and silent auction, dancing, prizes, games, ballroom dance demonstrations and more. The ever popular NBC 7 Traffic and Weather reporter, Whitney Southwick returns as Taste of Our Towne’s Master of Ceremonies.
Taste of Our Towne is a party with a cause. This event raises money in support of the POW Foundation’s Professional Performance Series and the Art in Education Initiative, presented by AT&T. The Arts in Education Initiative programs include Introduction to Instruments; a free week-long Theater Camp; Master Classes and a discounted youth tickets made possible by GEICO.
“This fabulous party, brought together by our exceptional committee, is a great event where the community gathers on the Plaza, the food, wine and brews served will be delicious, the live and silent auction items are one-of-a-kind and the entertainment is unique -- truly a very special night!” says Executive Director Michael Rennie.
The evening begins with a champagne toast in the Lobby of the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. Guests will listen to The Tough Times Trio while bidding on silent auction items. The party then moves to the plaza for delicious food and drink, and entertainment from the young jazz prodigies The Pizzaro Brothers . Guests will enjoy a ballroom dance demonstrations from Joe and Kimberly Callahan of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Rancho Bernardo and will be invited to join them on the dance floor. The live auction, headed by Eric Lehew, will feature many one-of-a-kind items for guests to bid upon. At the end of the evening there will be a Safe Ride Home sponsored by GEICO to any attendees who choose to use the door to door transportation service.
