Church Music Director

Mission: The mission of the Music Department within Ramona United Methodist Church is to facilitate music in conjunction with the Holy Spirit of the worship services but also to outreach through music into the community.

Qualifications:

• A commitment to the Christian faith and to serving God through worship.
• Understands the difference between “Musical Performance” and “Music for Worship”.
• Takes initiative and is dependable.
• Is willing and open to learning new things and growing in faith through participation in other functions or facets of the RUMC church community.
• Is proficient and competent in the knowledge of music, music theory, basic choral teachings and techniques, and instrumental instruction.
• Has experience directing choirs, children’s choir and bells preferred
• Can provide coordination of the music staff and all other music program activities.
• Can exercise professionalism when interacting with all teams within the church and congregational membership.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Selects music for use in the service and in conjunction with the Pastor, facilitates a fulfilling, spirit-led service for the congregation.
• Accomplishes all worship preparation with regards to music, rehearsals and any audio/visual needs for each service.
• Arranges special music both for worship and outside activities in coordination with the Pastor and accompanist
• Provides music for special services as required by the worship calendar and/or by the discretion of the Pastor.
• Communicates through all appropriate channels of the church on events, programming, schedules, activities, etc...
• Attends the Worship Committee and Staff Meetings as required. When asked, will be required to attend any other committee meeting that is relevant to the music department.
• Selects and purchases new music in cooperation with finance staff and budget allocations.
• Seeks to improve the musical abilities of the participants in the music program by using all resources available as the need presents itself.
• Actively seeks to increase the membership numbers of the music department by utilizing congregational resources and outreaching into the community.
• Is proactive in aiding all music department members in the nourishment of their faith and their health and well being.
• Assists in other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

This is a part-time, salary position.
