A man brandishing a knife got the attention of a local man, as well as deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
The incident took place late Sunday. A Rancho Santa Margarita man said he was approached by an unfamiliar man brandishing a 4-inch knife and accusing him of stealing his money.
The suspect, who appeared to be about 25 years old, was detained before being released by deputies.
The call came in around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, from the 300 block of Via Serena.
Screaming woman seeks help
An informant said a screaming woman came to her Rancho Santa Margarita residence early Sunday morning, followed by a man. According to the caller, the woman was crying and yelling at the man to leave her alone.
Deputies arrived and arrested a 34-year-old man, who is being held on $65,000 bail at the Central Mends Jail.
The call came in around midnight on Sunday, from Flora del Mar.
Freezing men seek shelter
A Rancho Santa Margarita man reported to OCSD that two 19-year-old men were knocking on his apartment door late Saturday evening, asking to come in because they were cold. The informant said he would not look outside for a description.
The call came in around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, from Via Amistosa.

Disturbance 10:42 p.m. Sunday, 200 block of Montana del Lago Drive. A woman needed help with her 22-year-old son, who had been detoxing from heroin for five days. Her son was becoming aggressive with she and her husband, and was threatening to leave the house.
Traffic Hazard 9:08 p.m. Sunday, on Robinson Ranch Road and High Country Drive. A caller said someone had put caution tape across a road.
Suspicious Person in Vehicle 6:32 p.m. Sunday, 100 block of Rabano. An informant said four teens were sitting inside a SUV, passing a pipe around.
Disturbance 1:41 p.m. Sunday, 100 block of Via Serena. A woman was in a fight with her ex-boyfriend, who was now locked outside of her residence.
Disturbance--Music or Party 1:06 a.m. Sunday, 31900 block of Dove Canyon Drive. An informant said the music from Friends Sports Bar was so loud, the bass was shaking the house.
Traffic Hazard 2:21 p.m. Saturday, on Antonio Parkway and the 241 Toll Road. A caller said two large plastic containers were left in traffic lanes.
Firework Violation 1:25 a.m. Saturday, on Via Cordoba. A caller said someone had either set off fireworks or shot a gun in his neighborhood, because a loud boom set off all of the car alarms in the area.
Suspicious Person/Circumstances 11:30 p.m. Friday, 23300 block of Arroyo Vista. An informant said several teens were hanging out and possibly smoking marijuana in cars that were parked in the lot of Arroyo Vista Elementary.
Disturbance 7:26 p.m. Friday, on Hemingway Court. A man’s 15-year-old son, who has Tourette’s Syndrome, was having a "meltdown."
Citizen Assist 10:36 a.m. Friday, 22100 block of El Paseo. A woman said two rings were missing from her home.
Disturbance 6:20 a.m. Friday, on Via Amistosa. An informant saw two men fighting in the street.
