Redfield Leads Local Players Named All-County

There was no shortage of local athletes who were named all-Orange County by the Orange County Register.

Max Redfield of Mission Viejo led the group, which was selected by the staff of OC Varsity. Redfield, one of the finest two-way players in the state, was named the defensive player of the year.

Conner Manning of El Toro, who broke numerous passing records including the all-time career yardage mark set previously by Mater Dei's Matt Barkley—and tied his own single-season record with 41 TD passes—was named to the first-team offense.

There were eight local players named to the first team offense, which included running backs Nate Tago of Tesoro and Alex Suchesk of Mission Viejo; two-way player Drake Martinez of Laguna Beach as an all-purpose player; wide receiver River Cracraft of Santa Margarita Catholic; and offensive linemen Sean Harlow of San Clemente, Dane Crane of Santa Margarita; and kicker Grif Amies of Corona del Mar.

Amies is the only local player who was on a team that one a section championship. He tied the state record for most field goals in a season with 22, which led the nation.

There were four local athletes who earned first-team defensive honors, including defensive lineman Garrett Marino of Mission Viejo; and defensive backs Connor O'Brien at Santa Margarita and Casey Eugenio of JSerra.

Mater Dei had the offensive player of the year, receiver Thomas Duarte and coach Bruce Rollinson.
