Bike Path at Dockweiler Closes Because of Surf Damage

A section of the bike path at Dockweiler State Beach was damaged by high surf and closed Friday, authorities said.

The affected 140-foot section of the Marvin Braude Bike Trail runs between the lifeguard station at 8600 Vista del Mar and a county Department of Beaches and Harbors maintenance facility at 8255 Vista del Mar, according to the county Department of Public Works.

A detour is being devised and was expected to be in place by Saturday morning, officials said.
