City Seeks Feedback on Waterfront Developers

The Redondo Beach City Council will select a developer for 15 acres of waterfront property during a special meeting Oct. 30, but until then, residents are encouraged to weigh in with their thoughts.

The three developers—Centercal Properties, Lowe Enterprises and the Ruth Group, and Pacifica Companies—presented their preliminary visions for the site, which includes the International Boardwalk, Redondo Beach Marina and the Redondo Beach Pier, in addition to their qualifications during a five-hour introductory meeting Sept. 13.

Since then, the three developers have submitted detailed and confidential letters of intent.

Though a move by Councilman Bill Brand to hold an additional workshop with the developers for the public to attend was quashed after an hour of debate during Tuesday night's city council meeting, city staff and several councilmen emphasized that the public should email comments and questions to the city council and the developers. The comments and questions will be addressed at the Oct. 30 meeting.

Residents can email the entire city council at waterfrontrfq@redondo.org, or they can contact the developers directly at loweinfo@loweenterprises.com, redondobeachpier@centercal.com and arolfe@pacificacompanies.com.

Once a developer is selected, the site planning process will begin.
