Redondo Beach Crime: Hot-Wired Lexus

The following information is from the Redondo Beach Police Department's Part I Crime Recap news release covering reports received April 5 through Wednesday.

Commercial robbery in Redondo Beach

Police are searching for the person who entered an open business in the South Bay Galleria on Friday evening, chose merchandise, removed the security sensors and left. When a loss prevention officer approached him, the culprit swung a razor blade at the officer and fled, dropping the merchandise. No loss was reported as the items were recovered.

The culprit was described as a 5-foot-11-inch black man in his 40s, weighing about 170 pounds.

Street robbery in Redondo Beach

Two men approached a victim in the 3000 block of Vail Avenue shortly after midnight Sunday, demanded the victim's skateboard and threatened the victim. The skateboard thieves were described as Hispanic males in their 20s. One was about six feet tall and the other was 5-feet-8-inches tall.

Commercial burglaries in Redondo Beach

An iPhone was stolen shortly before noon on April 2 from an open business in the 1900 block of Artesia Boulevard.

Davina Hollier was arrested on suspicion of using fraudulent gift cards to purchase headphones and other gift cards from Target in North Redondo Beach on Saturday afternoon. Police are searching for another culprit, described only as an adult black man.

Residential burglaries in Redondo Beach

A burglar entered a residence in the 100 block of Vista del Mar on Tuesday and stole a purse containing a wallet with gift cards, cash, credit cards and lottery tickets.

A person in the 2500 block of Carlsbad Street was the victim of a distraction burglary on the afternoon of April 4. According to police, one of the culprits, described as a 5-foot-6-inch Hispanic man weighing about  130 pounds, claimed to work for the city and contacted the victim in his backyard. He distracted the victim while his unseen accomplice entered the residence and stole cash.

A Giant "Roam" hybrid bicycle was stolen Saturday from the 500 block of Camino Real.

Vehicle burglaries in Redondo Beach

Someone stole a laptop and tennis racquets at some point between Sunday and Tuesday from a locked 2005 Nissan Moreno parked in the 2700 block of Artesia Boulevard.

A diaper bag, camera and paperwork were stolen April 4 from a 2004 Nissan Moreno and a 2011 GMC Acadia parked in the 1500 block of Carver Street.

Stolen vehicles in Redondo Beach

Someone punched the driver's side door lock and attempted to hot-wire a tan 1995 Lexus ES-300 parked in the 200 block of Palos Verdes Drive on Saturday. The theft attempt was unsuccessful.

A black 2015 Honda pickup 150, license plate No. 21G8074, was stolen Sunday morning from the 700 block of North Pacific Coast Highway.

A black 2001 Volvo C70, license plate No. 6FXY070, was stolen between Friday and Saturday from the 1110 block of Beryl Street.

Officers with the Redondo Beach Police Department recovered Saturday a silver 2010 Toyota Prius stolen from the 600 block of the Esplanade on the same day.

The Compton station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on Saturday recovered a green 1995 Nissan Altima stolen from the 2500 block of Curtis Avenue near the beginning of March.
