San Mateo County sheriff's deputies will be grilling hot dogs and
playing games in Redwood City this afternoon as part of "Play Streets" -- a series of family-friendly events sponsored by the Sheriff's Activities
The weekly event, which began July 12 and will repeat each Tuesday
afternoon through Aug. 16, provides an opportunity for deputies to interact with children and their parents and strengthen the bonds between the sheriff's office and the community's youth, sheriff's officials said.
Organizers said previous Play Streets events were successful, attracting more than 100 children and parents, and they expect another high turnout Tuesday.
There will be activities for kids including water games, bounce houses and face painting, organizers said.
Play Streets begins at 1 p.m., and the location alternates each week between Redwood City and Half Moon Bay.
Today's event will be held at the St. Francis Center at 151 Buckingham Ave. in Redwood City.
