Friends and family members remember 35-year-old Paul Lawson Storey as a family man with a quirky sense of humor.

Storey was killed in an officer-involved shooting Sept. 22 following a physical altercation with an officer responding to a domestic disturbance at a home on Sierra Gardens Drive, according to Roseville Police.

“He was a great father,” his wife Rachel Storey said. “He was actually doing a lot of mommy duties while I went back to school full time … he’s really close with the kids. He’s kind of like a big kid himself.”

Together they have two children — a 16-month-old daughter and a son who is turning 6 on Sunday.

Rachel Storey described her husband as a “family man” with a “quirky” sense of humor.

“He would do anything to make someone laugh,” she said.

The two met 10 years ago through mutual friends and have been married four years, Rachel Storey said.

Paul Storey worked for BCE Barnum & Celillo Electric based in Sacramento.

A co-worker of Paul Storey wrote on Roseville Patch’s Facebook page that “everyone who knew Paul absolutely loved him.”

“He was such a wonderful father and a good person,” Emerleen Enriquez wrote. “He used to bring in pears from his family's farm to share with the whole office.”

Paul Storey graduated Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento before settling in Roseville.

According to his obituary, Paul Storey loved the outdoors and country music and was a dedicated father and husband.

“He wanted nothing more than to see his kids grow,” Rachel Storey said.

Rachel Storey said her husband has been depicted in a false light through local media reports and commenters.

“It seems like he’s trying to be portrayed as something he’s not by the media,” she said. “He was a family man.”
