6 Homeless People Attacked Near Horton Plaza: Police

The transients were struck on their heads while they were sleeping, according to San Diego police.

San Diego, CA — Police were trying to track down the person or persons responsible for attacking several homeless early Tuesday as they slept on the streets of downtown San Diego, police said.

San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said at least six victims suffered lacerations to their heads when someone struck them with an unknown object. The attacks, which were reported just before 2 a.m., all happened with a four-block radius of Horton Plaza, according to the officer.

Two possible suspects in the attacks were described as a Latino man in his 20s who was wearing a black
beanie, a black hoodie and black pants; and a black woman riding a black mountain bike.

Detectives with San Diego Police Department's Central Division are investigating the incident. Anyone with information that may be helpful in their investigation was urged to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
