Hillary Clinton to Speak in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA:  Hillary Clinton's campaign announced that she will be in San Diego Thursday — just days ahead of Tuesday's California primary — to "deliver a major address ... to make clear the threat that Donald Trump would pose to our national security."

The former first lady and Democratic presidential candidate will speak at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at The Prado at Balboa Park Ballroom, where she will "put forth her own vision for keeping America safe at home and leading in the world," according to her campaign.

"Throughout this campaign, Trump has refused to outline any coherent foreign policy doctrine, failed to demonstrate a basic understanding of world affairs, and repeatedly proven he's temperamentally unfit to serve as our commander in chief,” her campaign stated. “Clinton will rebuke the fear, bigotry, and misplaced defeatism that Trump has been selling to the American people. She will make the affirmative case for the exceptional role America has played and must continue to play in order to keep our country safe and our economy growing.”

Clinton's visit comes on the heels of a Trump rally Friday in San Diego that afterward led to 35 protester arrests.

Her husband, Bill Clinton, recently spoke in San Diego — also at Balboa Park.

Her fellow Democratic candidate, Bernie Sanders, spoke during events in National City and Vista last month.

The former secretary of state and New York senator who has earned Gov. Jerry Brown's endorsement can reach the number of delegates she needs for the Democratic nomination by winning California's primary election on Tuesday.

Sanders has continued his campaign for the Democratic nomination despite trailing Clinton in the delegate race.
