Notable Cases
On Wednesday, 08-06-14 at 10:22 a.m., Officer Mike Haralambidis and Officer Marilyn Drexler were dispatched to the 6500 block of Mission Street on the report of a male subject sleeping in the electrical room of an underground parking structure. Officers found six subjects sleeping. One subject provided false identifying information because he had an outstanding no-bail warrant from the Youth Service Center. That subject, a 16-year old San Bruno resident, was arrested for the warrant and for providing false information to a police officer. The other subjects were released.
On Wednesday, 08-06-14 at 8:58 p.m., Officer Sean Begley and Officer Rodney Chittenden were dispatched to Target on a report of a petty theft. The suspect had taken headphones and a belt and attempted to leave the store with the items. A records check revealed the 28-year old Lafayette resident was on felony probation in Contra Costa for burglary. The subjectβs vehicle was in the parking lot, and officers conducted a probation search of the vehicle. K-9 βUtahβ helped locate marijuana in the suspectβs vehicle. Officers found a checkbook and jewelry taken from a residential burglary in San Francisco. The subject was arrested for burglary, identity theft and receiving stolen property.
On Thursday, 08-07-14 at 4:24 p.m., Lt. David Mackriss stopped a vehicle towing a trailer that had a stolen license plate on it. The passenger, a 24-year old transient subject, had an outstanding arrested warrant. She was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and had two glass pipes in her possession. She was arrested for all three charges.
On Sunday, 08-10-14 at 6:19 p.m., Officer Nick Ottoboni stopped a subject who was standing in front of the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store on Mission Street. When the subject saw the officer, the subject removed his headphones from his ears, slammed his cell phone on the ground, breaking it to pieces. He then began walking rapidly toward the officer, removed his sweatshirt, clenched his fist, raised his shoulders and spoke an obscenity. Fearing for his safety, Officer Ottoboni tried to grab the suspectβs wrist and the suspect attempted to pull away and tried to kick the officer. The subject spit on the officer as he struggled with the officer. The subject, a 26-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest and for a probation violation.
Robberies
There were two robberies during the past week.
On Sunday, 08-10-14, at 2:55 a.m., two subjects reported they were robbed by two unknown males in the area of Bay Ridge Drive and Schwerin Street. The victims, a 31-year old male Daly City resident and a 27-year old male San Ramon resident, said they were on the sidewalk talking when they were approached from behind by two males. One male pushed one victim to the ground and then put his right hand in his jacket pocket, simulating a weapon, and said, βDo you want to die?β and βgive me your cashβ. The suspect then punched the victim several times in the face and chest area. The other victim was also punched in the face several times, and the suspect took his cell phone from his pocket. The victims both sustained lacerations and bruising to their face and chest area. The victims said the suspects left in a newer, four door, silver Honda and fled onto Oriente Street. Officers were immediately dispatched to the area, but no suspects were found.
On Sunday, 08-10-14 at 3:10 a.m., a 38-year old Daly City resident was walking northbound on Callan from the 7-11 Store and noticed a black 4-door pickup truck with chrome wheels, possibly a Toyota Tacoma, drive by and make a U-turn and drive by him. He said the vehicle stopped adjacent to him, and three black male adults in their 20βs quickly exited the vehicle and approached him. He said the driver stayed in the truck. One of the suspects was carrying a bright colored aluminum bat. Realizing this was a robbery, the victim reached into his right pants pocket and tried to secure his wallet. The victim said the subject with the bat yelled an obscenity and then swung the bat, hitting him in his right hand. The other two unknown subjects forcibly removed his wallet from his pants and then ran back to the vehicle and fled the area. The victim suffered an injury to his hand.
