BREAKING: San Clemente Man Named in Tesla Crash that Kills 7-year-old
A San Clemente man suspected of DUI was named in a crash that killed a 7-year-old girl sending her sister and father to a north OC hospital.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Morning traffic in the Seal Beach area of Orange County took a deadly turn on Monday when a multi-vehicle crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Seal Beach today killed a 7-year-old girl, critically injuring her 13-year-old sister and leaving their father hospitalized.
The collision involving at least three vehicles happened about 9:15 a.m. on the northbound 405, just north of Seal Beach Boulevard, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada.
"All of the victims were in one car," Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.

A 2013 Chevy Tahoe SUV, driven by a 36-year-old San Clemente resident, slammed into a 2015 Tesla S in the carpool lane on the 405 freeway, according to California Highway Patrol officer Tom Joy.
Reports state that 36-year-old Adam Kanas of San Clemente, who was driving Tahoe was "swerving in and out of lanes" and crossed double yellow lanes near Seal Beach Boulevard exit on the 405 Northbound.

The Tesla was crumpled into a 2012 Honda Civic by the Tahoe, according to reports from the scene by Joy. Both children were in the back seat of the car.
"The 7-year-old was transported to the hospital in grave condition, and was pronounced dead at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and her 13-year-old sister was in critical condition," Concialdi said.
Hillsborough resident Donald Geddis — who was driving the Tesla — was transported as a trauma patient and admitted to the same hospital in moderate condition. No other injuries were reported, according to Concialdi. At least two other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Joy stated that the DUI suspect, who was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe, was in the fast lane when he swerved into one of two carpool lanes, crashing into the Tesla carrying Geddis and his daughters.
Upon impact, "the Tesla then crashed into a Honda Civic, but no one in that car was hurt," Joy said. "(Adam Kanas) insisted on being taken to an area hospital for evaluation."
According to reports, CHP was attempting to locate a possible DUI vehicle matching the description of the Chevy Tahoe when he encountered the traffic collision which had just occurred.
Kanas was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence and booked into Orange County Jail, Joy reported.
CHP-Westminster area is conducting this ongoing investigation.
