Veteran's Day Chapel with Special WWII Vet

Veteran's Day Chapel with Special WWII Vet

Each year, Capistrano Valley Christian Schools pays tribute to our U.S. Armed Forces Service men and women in our CVCS Veterans’ Day Recognition Chapel Assembly. It has always been a great time to educate our students in their understanding of the meaning of Veteran’s Day and why our country recognizes it.

Each year we bring in a special U.S. Military Service Veteran who shares with our students what it’s like to be a military veteran. Some of these speakers have been our very own CVCS Graduates.

This year we have a very special guest sharing with our students. He is 92 year old Raymond Biel, one of the last surviving members of the 509th Composite Group, an Army-Air Force unit who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. Of the initial 1,700 personnel who were part of 15 crews on the project, there are fewer than 10 survivors, and Mr. Biel is the only current survivor of his crew.

This will be a historic event for our students and we invite the community to be part of our audience this comingFriday, November 8th at 11:30am in the Worship Center at Capistrano Valley Christian Schools.
