Teen Charged With Killing San Leandro Pedestrian

An 18-year-old Hayward youth was charged today with felony and misdemeanor crimes after he allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian in San Leandro and then fled from the scene last week.

Anthony Wolfe Jr. is facing felony charges for leaving the scene of an accident and a misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charge.

Wolfe, who turned himself in to police on Thursday and is being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin without bail, is scheduled to be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court on Monday afternoon.

San Leandro police Officer Robert Mendenhall wrote in a probable cause statement that Wolfe was driving at a high rate of speed and ran a red light when his Toyota pickup truck struck Madeline Moore, 26, as she crossed the street near the intersection of Hesperian Boulevard and Thornally Drive at about 9 a.m. on June 18.

Mendenhall said Wolfe’s actions “were negligent and showed disregard for public safety.”

Police said Wolfe fled from the scene in his pickup truck. The truck was found the next day.

Moore was rushed to a hospital but later died from her injuries.
