1/18/14 attended the 49th Miss LA Chinatown pageant at the Universal Hilton.
It's truth never judge the book by the cover, the event started with swimwear-self introduction which is pleasing for the male audience , but may be more cynical for the female counter part in the ballroom with lots of comments on body shape, size and height (although all of the contestant have 4" or more hi-heels on already). And I have to say the ladies on stage are very nervous!
Second segment is evening gown-on stage interview, for that its more like "luck" drawn if you pick a question that you could nail the answers that appear to most people.
For me the last round Qi-Pao-personal statement is where the "meat" of the contestant truth color comes out. I've to say that many of them are compelling, and the best one are personal experience that set them apart.
The 2014 Queen is Everlyn Chen born in Whittier raised in Fullerton by traditional Chinese grandparents and mother. She was touched by the sacrifices they made in order for her & her older sister to pursue their dreams. Everlyn is a graduated from Chapman Film School with a degree in Screenwriting. A very un-traditional career path for the chinese girl indeed, we should all have hope and believe that "Dream Do Comes Truth"
You go Queen Everlyn, we will be cheering for you:)
