CHP officers pursued the suspect vehicle north on Interstate Highway 280 to Interstate Highway 380 and U.S. Highway 101 to San Francisco.

They stopped the vehicle in the vicinity of Market Street and Octavia Boulevard, where DeLeon and Mercado were detained.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said a charging decision in the case will be made Friday morning after a review of the police report has taken place.

If the two suspects are charged, which Wagstaffe said he expects them to be, their arraignment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Redwood City.
