Vallejo Shooting Suspect Arrested in San Mateo County

San Mateo County sheriff's deputies arrested an El Granada man Wednesday morning in connection with a Monday shooting in Vallejo, a sheriff's deputy said.

Samuel Turner, 19, was arrested at his father's apartment in the 400 block of Coronado Street in El Granada, sheriff's Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said.

The sheriff's office received an anonymous tip about Turner's whereabouts on Tuesday, Rosenblatt said. Sheriff's deputies surveilled the apartment building until they saw Turner, whom they identified from pictures sent by Vallejo police, Rosenblatt said.

The San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force and the sheriff's office set up a perimeter around the apartment and tried to contact Turner by phone between 3 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Rosenblatt said.

Turner did not answer calls, and the San Mateo County SWAT team and Redwood City Police Department's SWAT team cleared the inside of the apartment around 9:40 p.m., Rosenblatt said.

Turner was not found, but he called 911 this morning and surrendered at his residence, Rosenblatt said.

Turner is suspected of shooting an 18-year-old man during an argument on Voyager Drive around 3:30 p.m. Monday. Vallejo police were unavailable to release more information about the shooting.
