Area Cabbie Arrested for Attempted Sexual Assault of Female Passenger

Area Cabbie Arrested for Attempted Sexual Assault of Female Passenger
A 46-year-old male cab driver, employed by Village Cab Taxi Service, was arrested Monday in connection with an alleged attempted sexual assault of a female passenger, said the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

The cab driver, Salvador Ceja Rocha, reportedly picked up a female customer at 1 a.m. on April 20 from  Capitola Village and drove her to a secluded area of Nisene Marks and attempted to sexually assault her, authorities said.

The woman struggled with Rocha and managed to exit the cab and escape, police said, and Rocha drove off.

The victim contacted Sheriff’s deputies, who, after an investigation, arrested Rocha for suspicion of assault with attempt to commit a felony sex act.

Since Rocha often works night hours as a cab driver, investigators believe that additional victims of sexual assault may exist in our community, deputies said.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking that anyone with information regarding this investigation, or has previous contact as a possible victim, to call (831) 471-1211.

This is the second case in a little more than a month of a taxi driver assaulting a female passenger:  Cabbie Arrested For Alleged Sex Attack of Female Passenger at Ocean St. Motel in Santa Cruz.
