Fire Destroys Soquel Home, Car: Central Fire District

A home on Paradise Road was declared uninhabitable following a Tuesday morning blaze, but all five residents are reported uninjured.

SOQUEL, CA — A home and car on Paradise Lane in Soquel were destroyed Tuesday morning in a fire, the Central Fire District Protection District of Santa Cruz County reported. None of the five family members living in the home were injured.

At 10:53 a.m. Tuesday, Central Fire District firefighters found a home with intense flames and smoke coming from the front of the home, according to Central Fire spokesperson Mike DeMars. Neighboring fire departments and water and tenders from Branciforte and Scotts Valley Fire Districts arrived afterwards due to the intensity of the fire and the home’s location near both brush and residential areas.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the living room and dining areas, DeMars said. However, most of the house, and an SUV parked adjacent to the storage area, sustained substantial heat, smoke, and fire damage. The home was determined to be uninhabitable, and the SUV was damaged “irreparably” by the fire.
