Lindsay Lohan Charged With Lying to Santa Monica Police

Hours after her New York City arrest, the actress is charged with three misdemeanors stemming from a June car crash in Santa Monica.

Lindsay Lohan Charged With Lying to Santa Monica Police

The city filed charges Thursday against Lindsay Lohan for allegedly lying to Santa Monica Police about being behind the wheel during a June car crash on Pacific Coast Highway

The charges could quickly lead to jail time for the actress, who is still on probation for her no-contest plea to a misdemeanor grand theft charge from when she allegedly pilfered a necklace from a Venice jewelry store.

She was charged in Santa Monica with three misdemeanors: willfully resisting, obstructing or delaying a police officer; providing false information to a police officer; and reckless driving, according to police department spokesman Sgt. Richard Lewis.

When Lohan's Porsche collided with a dump truck June 8 near the California Incline, she allegedly claimed had not been behind the wheel. But during a subsequent investigation, Lewis said "information was developed that Lohan was the driver of the Porsche when the accident occurred."

Thursday's charges were filed hours after she was released from custody in New York for allegedly getting into a fight with a woman at a Chelsea neighborhood nightclub.

The Mean Girls actress was also given probation for a 2007 conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
