Red Cross Plans Benefit Car Wash This Saturday

Get your car washed for a good cause Saturday.

American Red Cross of Santa Monica volunteers will hand wash and vacuum cars for donations of $10, and trucks and SUVs for donations of $15.

The car wash is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Santa Monica Red Cross chapter parking lot, at 1450 11th St.

Chapter spokesman Bill Bauer said all proceeds from the car wash will benefit "PrepareSoCal," a three-year American Red Cross, Los Angeles Region, disaster response campaign to prepare communities to prevent and respond to life-threatening disasters.

Fresh baked goods, snacks and beverages will also be for sale for donations of $1 to $3 each.

"The latest environmentally-friendly practices and sustainable materials will be employed during the washing process to make sure vehicles are cleaned without harm to the environment during the process," a press release stated.

The American Red Cross of Santa Monica is a publicly supported, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides health and safety education, youth services, CPR and first aid training, disaster awareness and disaster relief efforts.
