Santa Monica College Picked for Pilot Bachelor's Program
Santa Monica College received initial approval for a four-year degree program in interaction design.

Santa Monica College is among a handful of Southland community colleges that received initial approval today to develop four-year bachelor’s degree programs in mortuary science, automotive technology, dental hygiene and other fields as part of a pilot program.
The colleges receiving preliminary approval by the Legislature and Gov. Jerry Brown are:
-- Santa Monica College, interaction design.

-- Antelope Valley College, airframe manufacturing technology;
-- Cypress College, mortuary science;

-- Foothill College, dental Hygiene;
-- West Los Angeles College, dental hygiene;
-- MiraCosta College, bio-manufacturing;
-- Rio Hondo College, automotive technology;
-- San Diego Mesa College, health information management;
-- Santa Ana College, occupational studies; and
The programs must undergo additional review by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office as well as further consultation with the California State University and University of California before final approval is considered by the Board of Governors at its March meeting.
