Thanks to All for Trusting Me and Re-election to School Board

Editors note: This letter to the community about Priscilla Schreiber's re-election to the Grossmont Union High School District Board was posted to her Facebook page and shared with Patch.

A huge measure of gratitude to my family and friends for their encouragement, wisdom, support, prayers and loving kindness. Thank you to those who walked precincts, hung signs, and helped in so many ways, with their time, and generous contributions.

Thank you to the community, the parents and teachers, my fellow school board colleagues across the district; and to those elected officials and organizations who graciously endorsed me for a fourth term.

I was overwhelmed and humbled by the strong show of support as the results were first posted.  It is always a night for jitters, candidates and their supporters work so hard and are so hopeful. They are all winners for their efforts and desire to serve.

To those who may have voted for me because my name was first on a "down ballot" school board race, or a friend suggested a vote for me;  I pray I will honor your trust by making thoughtful decisions, being prepared, transparent, accessible and accountable.

I give all glory to God who cares about even the smallest details of my life. Having my name first on the ballot, in what would be a challenging race, was God sent.

Congratulations to the board's new member-elect, Jim Stieringer.  I wholeheartedly look forward to working together for what's best for students, families, and the communities of the Grossmont District.

It is my hope that when the new board is seated it would review it's governance role relative to setting a clear and unified direction, revisit the district's goals and mission for setting the vision for the district, prioritize budgets to support the strategic plan; and develop public policy as needed for financial planning of the facilities bond program.

Again, thank you all for trusting in me and giving me an opportunity to serve for another term.

- Priscilla Schreiber, re-elected to the Grossmont Union High School District Board
