Man Remains in Jail After Leaving Toddler in Car Outside Strip Club

A 24-year-old Canoga Park man left his toddler daughter in a cold pickup truck as he got drunk inside a stripper bar, and is in jail Sunday, police said.

The two-year-old girl was cold and scared when police arrived at 12:55 a.m. outside the 7557 Club, a bar where bikini-clad women reportedly entertain the public at 7557 Woodley Ave. in Van Nuys.

Santos Omar Barillas remained jailed Sunday in lieu of $15,000 bail, and the girl was in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Officers arriving at the bar found Barillas asleep in the front, and the child in the backseat of his pickup truck. Police said patrons inside the club confirmed that Barillas had been inside the club without the child, and the Los Angeles Times reported police determined Barillas was drunk.

West Valley division police officers booked Barillas for suspicion of child endangerment at 4:05 a.m. Saturday at the Van Nuys Jail.

Barillas is due in Van Nuys Municipal Court, Division 101 at 8:30 a.m. on March 20, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Inmate Information Center.
