Pallet Fire Tears through Sherman Oaks Business Threatening Nearby Buildings
Billowing black smoke could be seen across the San Fernando Valley as flames engulfed hot tubs stored behind a Sepulveda Blvd strip mall.
SHERMAN OAKS, CA -- A fire Tuesday ripped through portable spas, wood pallets and other items stored in an outdoor area behind a business in Sherman Oaks, but firefighters kept it from spreading to any structures and no injuries were reported.
The fire was reported at 5:04 p.m. at 5830 N. Sepulveda Blvd., between Oxnard Street and Burbank Boulevard, outside Lifestyle Outdoor, a seller of therapeutic hot tubs, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Images from the scene showed smoke billowing from the fire as it burned outside a strip mall where, according to Humphrey, Lifestyle Outdoor and seven other businesses are located.

Seventy-four firefighters responded and knocked down the fire in 1 hour and 28 minutes, Humphrey said.
The blaze burned among about 48 spas stacked five high, he said.
