Metal Shavings Caused Fire at South Gate Recycling Plant

The fire was quickly doused and no one was hurt.

SOUTH GATE, CA - Some metal shavings caught fire at a metal recycling plant in South Gate on Saturday afternoon, but firefighters quickly put out the blaze and no one was injured.

The fire was reported at 4:30 p.m. at a metal recycling plant at 9444 Rayo Avenue, said Kyle Sanford, supervising dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The fire was knocked down by 4:54 p.m., Sanford said.
