COMPTON (CNS) - A woman whose car collided with a Metro Blue Line train in Compton succumbed to her injuries, a sheriff's sergeant said today.
The woman was identified as Tina Davis, 51, of Compton, said coroner's
Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
The car collided with a southbound train at the Elm Street crossing near Wilmington Avenue at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, said Sgt. Nina Sutter of the Los Angeles County sheriff's Transit Services Bureau.
She was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood in critical condition, according to a Compton Fire Department battalion chief at the accident site. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital, Sutter said.
The green Hyundai compact car the woman was driving was badly mangled in the collision, a news photographer reported.
